Recycled Fashion at the Marin County Fair

In order to get some exposure for recycled clothing, I entered one of my recycled fashion creations, a denim handbag made from old jeans, into the 2022 Marin County Fair. The work was entered into the Clothing & Textiles (Junior): Sewing & Quilting category.

The competitions at this year's fair were, unfortunately, online only. Due to COVID-19, the Marin County Fair decided to have an all-outdoor event, which meant that the fine art and craft competitions that were normally held in the exhibition hall were all online. I'm a little disappointed, since this meant that fairgoers were not able to see the entries. Entries were supposed to be posted online, but apparently the fair had some technical issues with that.

Still, I earned a second-place ribbon, which I'm happy about, and some exposure is better than none, right?

Hopefully the 2023 fair competitions will be back to normal, and I look forward to entering my creations there.
